vgreanoParticipantJust a quick question, how do you export as a GIF (with transparency) spritesheet? Right now it just creates an animated GIF for me.
Also, just noticed the “specify columns” checkbox. EXCELLENT stuff!
vgreanoParticipantYou RULE dude! It works great, I guess it was a simple fix after all. Thanks for the seamless tip as well, I wasn’t sure what that did.
vgreanoParticipantSure thing. I posted the exported file as well as the effects file. Notice how different they look!!
Here’s the dropbox link — its 4MB, I couldn’t attach it here.

Thanks buddy
vgreanoParticipantSo I tried exporting the animation by completely removing the black smoke, but the black outline is still fairly prominent. After this, I was doing some random testing with this, and I found that removing the additive property shows the shape in its true form. It looks like the shapes I was using (fire1.png and smoke1.png) both originally have black borders around them, so they cannot be removed regardless. Could this be it, with the source PNG having a black border around it?
vgreanoParticipantYeah I seem to get a thin, but noticeable black border around my elements after applying your suggestions. Looks strange when particles start to scatter and get smaller. Your export looks like its more or less solved the problem however, but I was thinking…for the Color Overtime, would it solve the problem if you added the option to select transparency as a color, ie: orange to checkered? Or is it possible to create a good fire effect without using the Additive option?
Anyways, looking forward to your update!
vgreanoParticipantOh okay, I realized if I keep the export rate to 36, it should stay within my specifications. I’m importing spritesheets into flash and blitting them so, thats why I was asking.
Anyways, I tried out your suggestions, and it made sense what you said, about keeping the orange consistent, but it still puts the black glow border. It’s smaller than what it was before, but why would there be a black glow? I even tried setting the alpha (Alpha Overtime I assumed) to 0 a lot earlier, but no go it seems.
Anyways thanks for looking into this, hopefully its not too nerve-wracking.
vgreanoParticipantHey, thanks for the update. One minor issue…
SO I installed the new version, and there’s a color problem with the export. I set up some smoke (Taken from Explosions – Fireball Explosion Quick Area I believe) and when I exported the frames, I got more black around the edges for a white background. I attached an image of what is going on, its strange because it only happens on that specific emmiter.
Also, is there a way to customize the size of the export grid? I would like to have it 6xheight

vgreanoParticipantHey Pete,
For some reason either I didn’t get a reply email notification, or I just missed it. Anyways I installed the new version and tested with 25 frames. Exports fine, and so far I haven’t seen the DIVIDE_BY_ZERO exception crash the system.
Thanks again for looking into this
vgreanoParticipantThanks Pete, it would really be appreciated.
vgreanoParticipantYes! Fixed. Looks great now. Also, this fixed the Animation Properties preview window as well, it shows the preview as it does in the editor window in high detail.
Many thanks.
vgreanoParticipantHey, thanks for the quick response.
So I installed the new version, and I don’t know if you recall, but I had the Animation Properties window problem where it would be all pixelated because of my graphics card. So now I’m getting the pixelated version exported, whereas your original copy gave me a crisp output (with the black border however)
Here’s the original thread about my pixelated Animation Properties window: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=111&start=0
vgreanoParticipantAny chance for an Undo/Redo feature?
vgreanoParticipantHi,
I think I have a somewhat similar problem to the rendering effect…I create this blue explosion with sparks protruding and I wanted to place that on a white background…the problem here is that while the animation looks fine during editing, there seems to be a subtle black border around the entire effect. Am I doing something wrong during export, or is it something to do with the white? I require it to be in PNG, but it needs to blend into a white background.
July 14, 2010 at 6:54 pm in reply to: TimelineFX Editor v1.21 – Animation Props display improperly #3645
vgreanoParticipantNah I had nothing running otherwise, so I assume its just my limited graphics properties. I applied updates to the drivers, but it remains the same. Good news though, it displays fine in the editor, its just Animation preview window where it encounters problems. Also, it exports fine as well, so I guess I thought it was strange.
Also the issue remains with the Starburst effects, its just the animation preview window that shows the animation all pixelated.
vgreanoParticipantNot sure if this is a memory leak, but during an effect load, my the memory shoots up from 40K to 160-200K…anyway to reduce this while editing effects?
Also whenever I hit Paint Mode, its an instant crash. What is paint mode…just a simple bitmap editor I assume? Thanks!
