imported_peterigzParticipantHi, I’m not entirely sure I understand what you mean. Do you want the smoke to float up into the air?
imported_peterigzParticipantyes I shall give it a go 🙂
imported_peterigzParticipantThe simplest way would be to give the particle some velocity upwards and add in some weight. there’s couple of geyser type effects in the example library that comes with the editor I believe, you could probably import and modify those ones.
imported_peterigzParticipantHi, if you right click the emitter the option to only play that emitter is there on a pop up menu. To replay an effect you can just double click in the preview window.
imported_peterigzParticipantI’ve attached a file of what I think you’re after.
Basically it’s got 2 emitters, with single one shot particles that have velocities set in opposite directions. These each contain a sub effect of the data fall effects. I modified these so that the handle (on the effects tab) is set so one is at -100 the other 100 so they travel towards each other and cross in the middle. Hope this gives you a few ideas!
imported_peterigzParticipantThis is definitely possible by using 2 sub effects. I’ll try and upload a sample tonight at some point. I think 1 or 2 of the light show emitters do something similar.
imported_peterigzParticipantThis effect would be possible using direction over time. I’ll see if I can create an example over the weekend.

imported_peterigzParticipantThanks glad you’re enjoying, and yes I’m overdue a new effects library!
imported_peterigzParticipantSorry I forgot about this thread! I think I know what you mean. If you look in the explosions effect library available from this site, and look at the stylised multi effect, then I think that does something you’re after. Basically it uses an emitter setup as an ellipse, this contains a sub effect which is the explosion. the ellipse effect dictates how many explosions happen. Look at the the effect tab and you’ll see what I mean.
Hope that helps!
imported_peterigzParticipantI think you mean sub-effects? You can have sub effects by copying an effect into an emitter within an effect. If that emitter has the single checkbox ticked on the particle tab then you can copy multiple effects within that same emitter.
What effect are you trying to achieve and I might be able to help in more detail?
imported_peterigzParticipantAt the moment I’m still undecided as to where I’m taking TimelineFX next, so i’m really not sure. Monkey seems to be maturing nicely, and mobile devices do seem like a good choice to target a 2d effects engine… but we’ll see 🙂
imported_peterigzParticipantHmm I’m really not sure and I’d doubt it to be honest, if it’s going to work with anything it’s probably going to be minib3d as I believe normal blitzmax draw commands would work with that. But primarily timelinefx is a 2d particle system.
imported_peterigzParticipantIf you re-download and try again it should be working properly now. It was doing it on my mac after all that, I must have changed something in the last update somehow! Let me know 🙂
imported_peterigzParticipantHi, sorry for the delay replying, Christmas and all that 🙂
I will check my Mac and see, I seem to recall I had to swap them on the Mac because they were coming out blue like that, so I’m not sure why yours is doing that. I haven’t upgraded to lion yet though…hmm
imported_peterigzParticipantI had thought about adding sound into effects but in the end never got around to it. Thanks for the ideas! 🙂
