I would like to ask if you have any plans of making your engine to work along with Unity or if you have any ideas of how this interaction could be achieved? What I mean is how to code particle effects from your engine into Unity and if this is possible. By the way I’m currently working with LibGdx and I believe any module released for this framework would bring you more attention and popularity.
Unity was always 3D from what I remember and TimelineFX is a 2D particle engine, however there’s a 2D part of unity now?
I have actually worked with someone to create a Java library for LibGDX funnily enough. It’s fully working but needs some optimising mainly for mobiles. I have suggested that he open sources it to a wider community to help develop it further. I’ll see if I can help him put it on GitHub.
Thank you for the answer. Any hope then of making TimelinfeFX to work with 3D?
You could Try using the “Animated Texture Sheet” option of the Shuriken particle system within Unity, then using a combination of Horizontal and Vertical billboards, that intersect with one another to give the illusion of a 3D sprite. This is how I achieved a few of the effects on Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance.
Thank you for the tip.
No problem! Any more issues, feel free to drop me a message and I’ll try my best to help out.
