aonynParticipantThank you for all your help Pete!
I hope perhaps this helps you with a real bug that may help future users, and not just some quirk on my system.

imported_peterigzParticipantMy pleasure. It’s one of those strange obscure bugs 🙄
What happens when you save as a strip (the checkbox option below transparancey)?
August 23, 2009 at 4:01 pm #3464
aonynParticipantHi Pete,
I will try that, I had not previously, because my application specifically uses a grid layout.
After I export to strip, I will return and post the results. Thanks,
DaveAugust 23, 2009 at 4:07 pm #3465
aonynParticipantOK, the results when exported as a strip are the same.
In full color mode, the 1st frame has alpha, subsequent frames do not.Perhaps this is good news, at least the error is consistent.

imported_peterigzParticipantI just uploaded a new update which may help with this problem, let me know! You can grab it from the downloads page.

aonynParticipantThanks Pete,
I will post my results.

aonynParticipantHi Pete,
I uninstalled and reinstalled the new version.
The png export behavior is the same.Full color mode saves the first frame with alpha, all subsequent frames are opaque.
Also, as before, 1 color alpha and grey alpha work correctly.regards,
DaveAugust 25, 2009 at 5:05 pm #3472
imported_peterigzParticipantThanks for testing. I’ll scrutinise the code tonight and see if anything sticks out. Essentially there is zero difference between the grey scale and full colour exports aside from the colours being averaged but I’ll see what I can find.
ps., did you update the drivers in case it’s anything to do with that? The latest nVidia drivers are from the 21st August.
August 25, 2009 at 5:44 pm #3473
aonynParticipantyes, I am using 190.38.
Thanks,
DaveAugust 25, 2009 at 5:57 pm #3474
imported_peterigzParticipantOk cool. I made a slight change, you can download a new version here: http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk/files/TimelineFXEditorSetup.exe
This will eliminate any chance that the transparencey option is somehow being disabled after the first frame. You can just install over the top of the previous version. Give it a try and let me know.August 25, 2009 at 9:09 pm #3475
aonynParticipantHi Peter,
I ran the new version, same behavior.
Out of curiosity, are you calling any dll’s or anything of this sort which I may have a different version installed than you?regards,
DaveAugust 25, 2009 at 10:35 pm #3476
imported_peterigzParticipantNo extra dll’s or anything. The most confusing thing for me is that it works on all the other export functions, just full colour does’t work, but there really is no difference between any of them. Anyway, another one to try here: http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk/files/TimelineFXEditorSetup.exe this time no GL extensions are used, see if that makes any difference.
Thanks for testing!

aonynParticipantHi Pete,
Same behavior again.
I also experimented with various settings, both within the animation properties dialog, as well as in the main UI.
A couple times I exported after changing a setting, and all frames were opaque, even the 1st frame.
The settings which triggered this were, seed, precise renderingUnfortunately though, these were not even consistent results.
I was unable to find any specific trigger which would have the same result every time.
Not even enough so to be sure any specific setting change had a direct relation to the output results.
It may be simply that randomly, alpha is lost altogether.About testing, it is no problem at all, I am glad to help.
Your program is very promising indeed, and I too hope to see all the wrinkles smoothed out.Btw, there is another less serious bug, but it is possible that it is related.
In the animation properties dialog, when update is pressed, the function seems to work, but the requester with the status bar doesn’t close automatically. It only closes when you attempt to move it by the title bar.August 26, 2009 at 8:28 am #3478
imported_peterigzParticipantI think the next thing I’ll do then is create a detailed log file and log everything that’s happening while it’s rendering the frames, I’m sure we’ll get there in the end, very obscure bug though that’s for sure! 😉

aonynParticipantYes, that sounds good. Thanks Pete
