Added a brand new (and I think much needed) attribute – Splatter. This allows you to add a random distribution to particles which opens more doors to more styles of effects. Make sure you grab the latest version of the module if you want to use splatter in your Blitzmax games.
Also fixed one or 2 bugs, here’s the changelog:
* New Attribute! Splatter. This allows you to randomise where the particles spawn about their spawn point. It adds yet more possibilties with what you can do with effects.
* Fixed a crash when importing animated particles if the settings you entered where too large for the image.
* Fixed a memory leak that became evident after opening and closing a lot of effect libraries.
* Fixed a problem with exporting 1 colour alpha, and grescale alpha animations that was introduced last update.
* Busy Dialog now appears when importing shapes.
Hi Peter,
I’m having problems with 1.17 getting the autofit to work – it seems to ignore any width/height settings I use when I export as an animation and goes with the “preferred” size.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Scott
I have some more information 🙂
It is when you manually enter the width/height values that the autofit fails. If I use the “+/-” buttons then it works a treat.
Cheers

ok thanks, I’ll take a look 🙂
Which width/height settings are you using specifically? And are you saying it only messes up when you actually export, or that autofit just doesn’t work before that?
Thanks!
Firstly, TimelineFX is really awesome 🙂
In versions prior to v1.17, I used to be able to Copy a particle from one of your example files, then open my own Effect File and paste it in there during the same program session (then manually attaching the correct particle image and linking it up the the effect I pasted), but it doesn’t seem to work with version 1.17.
If I paste with v1.17, it just pastes the Effect, and not the Emitters.
It would be great if you could check if this happens for you as well, or perhaps add some kind of way of importing effects from another library to the current file, that would be awesome 🙂
Thanks!
Thanks, I’ll check it out and fix it for the next version 🙂
Meanwhile, did you try using Import Library from the file menu? That will load a library and let you choose which effects to import to the currently loaded library.
Doh, how the heck did I miss that 😀 Thanks!
That one worked great, so the copy/paste thing isn’t that important since the Import works perfectly 🙂

Sorry Peter – missed this one.
Basically if I manually enter the values into the boxes e.g. 128 x 128 and hit autofit then it doesn’t resize the effect. If I press the +/- buttons then they work with autofit.
Ok thanks, I’ve got a few ideas to make autofit work a lot better/quicker anyway so hopefully that will be in the next update 🙂
