Naughty AlienParticipant..here is shot from my upcoming adventure game..you can see laser beams created with TimelineFX and then applied within mesh/billboard shader…I wish to see libraries for this excellent editor, related to billboard/mesh structure in 3d games, since pretty much everything is for 2D use only..I hope you like it..

imported_peterigzParticipantNaughty_Alien, that looks great 😎
Regarding the 3d libraries, do you mean more libraries that have seamless animated effects, for textures and such?
Looking forward to playing a demo of this game!

Naughty AlienParticipant..hey Pete..im glad you like it.. 🙂 im using intensively TimelineFX for specific VFX inside game since i have it a lot..so, libraries i was talking about are still, same eef packs, but with content, really suitable for use in 3D environment, eg., tilable animations, for, river flow, lava flow(i requested before), water foam around rocks in the middle of water flow, boat caustics on water surface, something hit on water surface (try to drop box in HL2 in to a water and you will see :)), etc..list is very long, and massive amount of modern game engines using this approach, with shaders in background(exactly as i did with beams here, extracted out from Timeline)..after having such animations and be able to export them on way i do right now, i can easy extract normalmaps out of it or anything i need to gain very good visuals later, in shaders..but unfortunatelly, not many eff packs i see, are suitable for 3D environments, some of them yes, but big majority not exactly..of course, i can do it my own, Timeline is editor at the end of the story, but, i just have no time and im quite sure, many folks will enjoy to tweak, tune, well established eef packs in order to get desired visuals, before extraction..im saying this because im seriously using TimelineFX in production on PC and PS3..this is one beautiful tool..I hope you will not ignore 3D folks , regarding eef packs..its just good..

imported_peterigzParticipantThanks for the feedback NA, there’s a few lava type textures in the Liquid Textures pack but I was never quite 100% happy with them. I’ve had a lot of practice with the editor since then though so I’ll have to have another go and see if I can come up few more seamless texture packs 🙂

Naughty AlienParticipant..that will be more than welcome…imagine steam pockets (like hot steap suddenly eject high pressure steam up in few seconds and just shut down), etc..then various water impact (top view) loops..there are few extraordinary good water impact anims u did in one of packs, but aaaa..cant use it because they are already perspective aligned 🙂 then, imagine iceberg and its melting so water going silently down to its sides..basically when such loop is exported and created normalmap, ihh..its looking like a miracle with shaders and sooooo processing cheap…then imagine water drops inside wet cave or if you are in desert, and some underground ruins, so you have same thing except, its sand..loads of this things are done in Tomb Raider and few other games…heck, when I got Phyre engine (with my PS3 dev kit) i was shocked with amount of this type of VFX used in demo games provided or commercial stuff such as DIRT (Done with Phyre) or Little big planet (Done with Phyre)…jeezz…Timeline can do all those stuff..just once done, engage shader processing and its all supercool..also..many pack animations can be done considering use over meshes…for instance, Dragon firing flame..etc..in that case should be secured texture tiling on sides(depending on mapping)…i think for 3D, there is LOADS of things to be done with Timeline.. 🙂 hopefully, Ill put Timeline FX in my splash screen, since Bmax will be there too, and i have used sooo many nice vfx done in Timeline (u will se alien main frame – world;))..anyway…i really hope to see more things easy used for 3D..plenty of customers for such use..trust me..

imported_peterigzParticipantOk, thanks for the ideas NA 🙂

Naughty AlienParticipant..you welcome Pete..here is some ‘template’ about lava look. something like this would be incredible to have (tilable of course from all sides), and with flow in one direction. Then, just by controlling shape of surface animation is aligned on to, flow can have any shape/speed and its very good looking :)..

imported_peterigzParticipantI’ve been experimenting a little with lava again, it’s quite hard to get it looking right though, I’m practising all the time! See what you think of these little efforts of flowing lava (don’t forget to see these properly you need to view each one in the animation properties window CTRL+A). I need to try and get a good particle shape to create those dark islands of lava as in your screen shot 🙂
