It would be a very nice implementation… Having an alpha on renders will make it so easier to integrate with special effects on videos… I can only give the thumb up with this idea.
For Peter, usually, an alpha channel uses its own layer. Usually, but that’s my way to work, I like to get 4 layers. One for each component, RGB, and one for the alpha. Alpha is plain black background against plain white color for the shape itself. It’s easier to cache the debris for example if they are white on the alpha. That’s where the alpha becomes really important.
The fact I like to use RGB are for balancing my effects and get the right color for integration, but it also works on full rendered colored.
So basically, and ideally, it would be neat to get the render on one layer, and the alpha on the second layer.
